Video making for all: a toolkit for making videos that include persons with disabilities
author(s):
year:
2016
publisher:
pages:
19 p.
other ed.:
also published in Arabic, French and Spanish
comment:
"Videos have been used to successfully raise awareness on disability inclusion in many contexts. They can play a powerful role in helping transform negative attitudes that prevent the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities. Producing a video - even a short one - has many components to consider, so it is important to approach it with a detailed plan, as you would with any project. This toolkit is designed to help you create video(s) that include persons with disabilities at all stages of the process. This toolkit is relevant to all video making, not just those that directly relate to disability as a topic. All videos, whether or not they are about disability, can and should take an inclusive approach. There are many talented persons with disabilities who are able and willing to contribute to making video or films." (p.4)

Lecciones audiovisuales para ciudadanos y ciudadanas interculturales
year:
2016
place:
Lima
publisher:
pages:
77 p.
comentario:

comment:
"This practical guide is based on the trainings developed for the Through Our Eyes community video project, a collaboration between the American Refugee Committee International (ARC) and Communication for Change (C4C). These workshops combine sessions on key project themes—gender norms, gender-based violence, harmful practices, HIV/AIDS, and related issues—with practical sessions on the technical and interpersonal skills needed to carry out participatory video work for social change in the community. This guide is designed as a tool for workshop facilitators and program coordinators. Facilitators with a strong understanding of participatory training methods and community-centered production will implement this training most effectively. Useful resources on both of these areas are included in Section V." (foreword)

comment:
"This toolkit has been assembled to provide the first few stepping stones for practitioners of participatory video to begin introducing a rights-based approach into their practice. We intend this toolkit to be particularly useful for those already undertaking participatory video work in all its guises. However, we hope the methods, ideas, tools, checklists and additional resources cited will mean its contents are useful and relevant to a broad community of practitioners of participatory communications and media." "The book was written mainly to inform rural development professionals, practitioners and decision-makers in a variety of organisations – from NGOs and farmer associations to government departments and research and educational institutions – about the diverse uses of video in development. Specifically, it seeks to give decision-makers greater insight into the subject in order to support decisions on the strategic use of video in development. As such, it draws extensively on practical experiences to illustrate the potential of this powerful communication tool for development." (introduction, p. 1)
